Take Good Care Of Your New Brows

Take Good Care Of Your New Brows

BrowsOnce you have your new brows and they are healed and look beautiful, you will still need to take care of them. Yes, you will save time in the mornings because you won’t have to fill in missing parts or completely draw on your eyebrows, but you can’t neglect them either. They will start growing again and you will have to keep them in check. Here are a few tips and trick that will help you keep your eyebrows in shape:

What You Should Do

Get an eyebrow kit that includes a razor, a pair of tweezers and a pair of brow shaping scissors.

Only use the tweezers on the so-called strays, hair that will grow far away form your eyebrows. Pluck no more than two hairs at a time before stepping back and double checking. If your eyebrows are starting to grow long and are looking like they stick out all over the place, use the shaping scissors to keep them in check. This way your brows will remain in shape and will still look nice an full. If you are having a hard time removing very thin and fine brows that are starting to grow too close you your brows, consider using the brow razor. This will help you get the area close to your brows clean without accidentally plugging out a hair you really wanted to keep. Be careful when using the razor. Only shave a small part and check often.

During the summer and before going out in the sun, make sure to put some sunscreen on your eyebrows. The more sun your unprotected brows get, the more they will fade.

If you need help keeping your brows in shape, talk to Dina, she will have tips that can help you out. For more information visit: https://browdesignbydina.com/.

Protect Your Permanent Makeup From The Sun

Protect Your Permanent Makeup This Summer

Sun and permanent makeupSpring is right around the corner and that means warmer and sunnier weather will be here soon. If you recently got your powder brows, permanent eyeliner or permanent lip color done, there are a few things you should know before heading out in the sun.

What Do Should Do

The sun can have a negative impact on permanent makeup. That is especially true if you just had the procedure done. Right after you get your permanent makeup, your brows and lips need time to heal. During that time, you will want to keep dirt and bacteria away from the healing area which means no pool or ocean for you. In general, avoid all dirty work, including lawn mowing or other yard work.  You will also want to avoid the sun since your eyes might be sensitive to light, so bring your sunglasses when heading outside. They will also protect the fresh color. After two weeks or so (consult with your permanent makeup expert), the area should be completely healed and you should be able to resume your normal activities.

If you had your permanent makeup for a while, you should still be careful when heading out in the sun. The more you tan, the more the permanent makeup will fade. Dina recommends to always put sun block on your eyebrows and use lip balm that contains sun block on your treated lips. Wearing sun glasses or a sun hat will also help keep the UV rays away from your permanent makeup.

As you know, the procedures are semi-permanent which means they will last one to two years. Unfortunately, exposure to UV rays can affect the rate at which the pigments, that were inserted into your skin,  are broken down. So when heading to the pool or the beach wear sunglasses and maybe a sun hat. If you have any questions about your permanent makeup after care, contact a Dina.

Lips Aftercare Tips

Lips Aftercare Tips

LipsOnce you have had your permanent lip makeup procedure done, there are a few things you should know to make sure your lips heal correctly and get the best possible results. Expect your lips to be swollen and very tender for the first couple of days after the procedure. The swelling should go down within the next couple of days. Don’t be surprised if your lips get very chapped on day 3 or 4. Here are some of Dina Basman’s aftercare tips for you:

What You Should Do

Right after the procedure, it is important to keep your lips clean and moist. It is best to use a clean, cool and wet washcloth to gently wipe your lips. Do not use your fingers when applying your post-cream products. Only use a cotton swab to apply the cream. Make sure not to touch, rub, scratch, pick or peel your lips. One week after the procedure you can start wearing sun protection, moisturizer or lip balm to protect your new color.

What Not To Do

You won’t be able to apply makeup around the treated area for at least 10 days. For two weeks after the procedure, you won’t be able to go swimming in a pool. Saunas, hot baths and hot tubs should also be avoided for two weeks. You will not be able to sun tan or saloon tan for at least two weeks. There are also certain foods you won’t be able to enjoy for two weeks. Those foods include spicy foods, milk, citrus or acidic juices and alcohol. Do not smoke for at least two weeks after you had your lips done.

Microblading Aftercare Tips

Microblading Aftercare Tips

Once you had your microblading or permanent makeup procedure done, there are a few things you should know to make sure your brows heal right and you get the best possible results. Here are some aftercare tips for you:

How To Clean Your Face

The most important thing is to keep your brows clean and dry. Do not get them wet. Wash your face carefully around the brows without getting water on the treated area. If you feel you have some dust on your brows, wipe them gently with an alcohol wipe. Before cleaning your face, make sure to wash your hands with a disinfectant soap. Apply the post-care cream or oil before washing your face. When applying your post-care cream, do not use your fingers, use cotton swabs gently. Do not wash your face with alkaline soaps for at least five to seven days. Do not wipe your face with a towels for 15- 21 days. In general, do not rub your brows, or pick on them, as you could get an infection. Your brows will probably start peeling in the second phase of your recovery, still do not peel or pick the skin. Also, try to keep your hair away from your brows for at least 7 days. Furthermore, you won’t be able to wear makeup or anti-aging creams on your brows for at least ten days.

Activities To Avoid

For at least two weeks after your procedure, avoid any activities that will make you sweat, including sports, hot saunas or hot tubs. You also won’t be able to go swimming in a swimming pool. The chlorine in the water can change the tone of the color pigments. Sun bathing (or going to a tanning salon) should be avoided for at least two weeks after the procedure.

You won’t be able to have any laser, chemical treatments or peelings done. Furthermore, do not use creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on your face or neck. Heavy household cleaning, working in your garage, or basement, or other areas where you could come in contact with a lot of airborne debris must be avoided in order to prevent infections.

Foods & Alcohol

Stay away from spicy foods, do not smoke and don’t drink alcohol in excess. Drinking alcohol could actually slow down the healing process.

If you are not sure about certain activities or have questions about the aftercare instructions, contact your microblading or permanent makeup professional. How To Prepare For Your Microblading Appointment

How To Prepare For Your Microblading Procedure

What Is MicrobladingYou have decided to get your brows microbladed.  Eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure where a special handheld microblading eyebrow pen is used to implant pigment under the epidermis. The specially designed fine blade is three times thinner than the blade used in a tattooing machine. This allows for the creation of very fine, crisp, realistic hair strokes that do not blur after healing. But, before you have the procedure done, there are a few things you should avoid for the best possible results.

What You Need To Know

Dina Basman has certifications in permanent makeup from East Asia, Central Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe and the U.S. and has worked with some of the best permanent makeup artists from around the world. Her training and experience have led to the most outstanding makeup artists in the area. Here a few of her recommendations on what to do and what not do the days before your treatment:

  • Do not work out on the day of the procedure
  • Do not drink too much coffee on the day of the procedure
  • Do not tan  (no sun) for one week prior to the procedure
  • Do not take aspirin, niacin, vitamin E or ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure
  • Do not drink alcohol the night before, or the day of the procedure
  • Waxing or tinting of the eyebrows should be done at least 3 days before the procedure
  • No Botox 4 weeks prior to the procedure
  • Stop using any Retin-A or AHA products for two weeks prior to the procedure
  • No laser or chemical peels for one month prior to the procedure
  • No microdermabrasion or dermaplaning for two weeks prior to the procedure
